CASHEWS

Health Benefits of Cashews

1. Mineral Dense: Cashews contain copper, phosphorous, manganese, magnesium, zinc, iron, and selenium. These minerals are involved in energy production, the development of connective tissue, the strengthening of bones, and the regulation of hormones. The nuts also provide vitamins B1, B5, and B6, which prevent conditions such as dermatitis and conjunctivitis.

2. Heart Health: The monounsaturated fats in cashews have been proven by multiple studies to lower levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol. This can reduce the occurrence of coronary-related diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. They also contain arginine that promotes blood vessel health by protecting the inner arterial lining from damage.

3. Eye Health: Cashews are rich in the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which promote eye health by protecting them from light damage. Their free radical-neutralizing action can also prevent the formation of cataracts. Antioxidants also contribute to cardiovascular health by preventing the oxidation of LDL, reducing the chances of clogged arteries.

4. Tissue Repair: A quarter cup of cashews provides about 5 grams of protein, a nutrient that particularly lacks in vegetarian and vegan diets. Protein is crucial in cellular growth and repair, also working with fiber to increase satiety, which prevents overeating.
